IT Support Technician.

Josue Amaya, who also goes by the name Josh/Joshua, is currently an IT technician at LA’s Promise. For the most part he is based at Manual Arts High School. He responds to and is usually the first level of support for all technology hardware, software, network, and other tech related issues around campus.
Josue joined LA’s Promise as an intern back in the early summer of 2015, to teach a coding class for the summer program at John Muir Middle School. He considered it a great experience and wanted to do more so he returned for his second internship the following month (July), working with school technology. In his past Josue was always been good at fixing tech gadgets at home for family and friends and was able to translate some of that experience to school based technology. Josue was then officially brought on to the team in October to look over the technology department at Manual Arts High School.
Josue has always loved to give back to his community, as he is a Manual Arts alumni. He has a passion for the youth in his area and is always looking to make a positive difference. Josue recently assisted in making an afterschool program with the Boys and Girls Club. The program is basically an extension of the coding class he taught back in the summer. Josue views technology as a way to get today's students excited about education and push them down the road to success.
Even though Josue has an interest in technology he also enjoys going old school and reading paperback books. Some of Josue’s favorite books include “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy, “The Odyssey” by Homer, and “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare. He also loves to play sports, and not only enjoys listening to music but works with it in various ways.
