Health & Wellness Coordinator
<< Back to Team
Claudia Pacheco is the Health and Wellness Coordinator for John Muir Middle School and LA’s Promise Charter Middle School #1. She actively supports, coordinates and leads school health and wellness initiatives to give all students an opportunity to become successful and healthy individuals. In addition to supporting LA Promise Fund schools, she also supports a larger countywide school effort to champion for healthy and hunger-free kids in other school districts.
Claudia became part of the team in August of 2016. She was previously a Community HealthCorps member with AltaMed Health Services on the CDC REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) grant, which focused on combating obesity in under resources communities in Southeast LA by supporting school nutrition and physical activity initiatives. Her previous positions have all had the underlying goal of improving her community and championing for health equity.
Claudia holds a B.A. in Environmental Science from UC Berkeley, where she developed an interest on how the physical and social environment influences community health and hopes to continue to support those public health initiatives. During her undergraduate studies, Claudia was Co-Chair and active member of a pre-health student organization called Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education and held internships with UCLA as an Occupational Health Inter and Alameda Health Systems as a Health Advocate.
One of Claudia’s favorite past time’s involves curling up with a good book and a few of her favorites include The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Portrait in Sepia by Isabel Allende and the oh so relatable Heart and Brain comic book by Nick Seluk. Other than buying too many books, her other hobbies include traveling whenever she has the opportunity to do so and attempting DIY projects.
