Arlene Torres is the Health and Wellness Coordinator for Manual Arts and West Adams high schools to coordinate, streamline and advance the Health and Wellness initiatives at all LA’s Promise network schools with student and parent engagement. As part of a program team, she plans and executes various health and wellness events on LA’s Promise Campuses.
Arlene is also currently working at the East Los Angeles Women’s Center as a Youth Organizer to coordinate and assist youth-related programming for the Youth program to increase youth participation to ensure women, girls, and identified women/girls to live in a safer and healthy communities free from violence against women, know about what is a healthy relationships, and help them grow as leaders/role models in their communities. Prior to joining the team, Arlene worked with UCLA BruinCorps to create college-going culture and spread awareness about various career opportunities to middle schools students in the underserved community of South LA; and has worked at LA Fitness for the Personal Training Department to do fitness evaluations for all existing members.
Arlene holds a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Applied Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara where she had a variety of health-related work experiences. She is still involved with her Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. as an alumna volunteer.
